Qualification of high voltage employees

In power house and high voltage substations, the employer must ensure that staff are able to perform the critical tasks for which they have been appointed. Conducting an employee audit to qualify them validates that an employee has the required level of competence and allows the company to fulfill its obligations.

Arc Flash and safe electrical works

At workplaces or other locations where electrical equipment is used, refer to CSA Z462-24 workplace electrical safety. According to this standard, employees must be audited in the field and these audits must be carried out at intervals of not more than one year. This standard also deals with DC circuits, lockout requirements and protection against electric arcs.

Electrical safety in health care facilities

At the health facility level, there is a standard to be met: CSA Z32-21 Electrical safety and essential electrical system in health care facilities. The standard stipulates that the technical staff must carry out or have carried out up to 5 tests on the receptacles according to the criticality of the places where the patients are treated. The tests performed are generally carried out on all the receptacles and the circuits serving the patient care areas. The standard provides that when there are modifications and renovations, there are design requirements that must be compulsorily made by an engineer and the production of a written document indicating that the work is compliant.
